About Dr. McKane

Brice W. McKane, M.D., F.A.C.S is a top-ranked graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he received his medical degree in 1998.  He then moved to Saint Louis where he trained in general surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital ,Washington University School of Medicine.  Dr. McKane then went on to complete a research fellowship for the Department of Surgery and published several peer reviewed articles before completing his residency in Plastic Surgery.  Dr. McKane then completed fellowships in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery and Breast Reconstruction.

Dr. McKane’s interest in Plastic Surgery developed after he experienced what it’s like to be a patient with reconstructive needs. During medical school, he was hiking in Big Bend National Park when he was involved in a severe accident.  He sustained multiple facial fractures and underwent a reconstructive procedure by a Plastic Surgeon that restored his face.  This was a life-changing event for him.  This experience taught him valuable lessons about what it is to be a patient.  Dr. McKane carries these lessons with him into the care of his own patients.

Dr. McKane is a Dallas-based board certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in Microsurgical Plastic Surgery, especially breast reconstruction.  Dr. McKane performs a variety of breast reconstructive procedures and tailors them to the individual needs of his patients.  He is trained in advanced microsurgical techniques including perforator flaps and routinely selects them to reconstruct his patients’ breasts.  These flaps include Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) flaps, Superficial Inferior Epigastric Artery (SIEA) flaps, superior Gluteal Artery Perforator (sGAP) flaps, inferior Gluteal Artery Perforator (iGAP) flaps, and Profunda Artery Perforator (PAP) flaps.  He also utilizes muscle and skin flaps in selected patients to include Transverse Upper Gracilis (TUG) flaps, Fleur de Lis gracilis (FDL) flaps, Transverse Rectus Abdominis Muscle (TRAM) flaps, and latissimus flaps.  Dr. McKane also performs implant based reconstructions for patients who wish to utilize these techniques.
